    Hey guys,

I finally received my XPS... however, as soon as I booted up the system I noticed a dead pixel.

I invested extra $200 (cost for an LED upgrade) hoping to get a perfect screen. I was extremely dissapointed especially because I waited for two extra weeks while my system was delayed.

I called the customer service people, and requested a new computer. I feel kinda bad for screwing Dell like that... but it's not really my fault, right?

LED is just what the back light is. The pixels are still the same.

Most manufacturers would not actually take it back as they say it has to be a minimum of 5 or so to return it.

If you can't notice a lot, then just live with it.

There are some apps which can try to remove that.Give them a try too.

    no no, I understand that.

I just wanted a perfect computer. I paid almost $1800 (in Canada we don't get coupons that often), and I expected everything to work perfectly.

The dead pixel is tiny. However, it's all I can think of when I look at the screen.

    @ToxicD

That's totally understandable man. Once you know it's there, it gets on your nerve and gets magnified 100x in your brain...

Bottom line is, if you don't like it, by all means get a refund or exchange. You've just paid so much for a brand new laptop and there is no reason you should put up with things that you cannot tolerate.

I know manufacturers have policies regarding dead pixels, but they only made it to cover their own a$$. You, on the other hand, are entitled to measure your satisfaction with your own standards.

Paying a good price is to get a better quality always....Its good that you asked for a replacement.

    thanks guys for your support.
I am running a program trying to fix the pixel. I hope it works so that I can cancel the replacement order.

I don't blame you one bit. It's total BS with the current policy toward dead pixels. You shouldn't have to deal with a single one, especially for the price being paid.

I have one on my 24" monitor that I can live with, it's mostly out of view and I never see it unless I think about it. But if I had one where I could see it I would go OUT of my mind.

It's your money. Ask for replacement if you don't feel satisfied.

I agree. I can't live with any dead pixels, but some people can. Now, there's a difference between a dead pixel and a stuck pixel. I can live with a stuck pixel (one that's always on), because usually, they're not as noticeable. That's fair enough.

    You paid for 1440 x 900 pixels, not 1439 x900.
It would drive me crazy as I can see it. It's more of the principle behind it to me. I would return it.

I agree that you paid for a brand-new laptop, not one that was already damaged. If I received a screen with a dead pixel it'd be headed straight back for a replacement, so don't feel bad or alone. :)

I also think its isn't a big deal to send it back. I'd do the same.
