Is the intelcore 2 duo T7500 good enough? I will have 4 gb ram and 160 gb 5400rpm hard drive. The other option would be to go with the regular LCD 1440 x 900 screen rather than the LED one and upgrade to the T8300. Money is the issue so I either have to give up screen quality or the processor quality.

What do you plan on doing with it?

Just like email, web surfing, some low end gaming, and other basic stuff, then you'll be fine.

ROFL you're going from 2.2 GHz and 4 MB cache to 2.4 GHz and 3 MB cache. Penryn is better at OCing, but I doubt the OP is considering that.

IMO, the screen should be the #1 concern. If you can't afford a fast proc and screen....easy decision.

Penryn is not only good at OC'ing (btw, you cannot OC the processor on 1530 as it's locked tight; although OC'ing your GPU will give you a substantial performance boost), it's also excelled at power consumption (makes your battery go further) and heat dissipation (your keyboard won't get as hot).

Also, the 200MHz jump is significantly noticeable than the 1MB cache you get for T7500. I'm not saying the 4MB cache is a gimmick but it's certainly not being used at its full potential under most circumstances (even heavy gaming).

With that being said, I'd suggest you go with the T7500 and an LED screen. It's always easier to upgrade the processor than the screen at a later time.

Your not giving up screen quality by not having LED.
I don't have the LED and the T7500 works great for me... I do a lot of PhotoShop editing and web work and my T7500 is just fine... so why not save some money by not getting the LED and T8300.
