    Anyone ordered one yet?

I have and I was wondering what kind price I got compared to others. Not to feel smug if I got a good deal, just to see if I got stiffed for not haggling hard enough.

I've been looking at some of the other post and people are getting really good deals on the T8300 processor, but I haven't seen anybody ordering the T9300.

This is the config I ordered for £917, it was about £990 before he applied the discount. The guy said there was a premium for the t9300 because of supplies, but I thought this was simply replacing the T7700 and would weigh in at the same price (it does on the US site).

    XPS M1530 CORE 2 DUO T9300 2.50GHz,800,6M 1 S
    Display 15.4" WXGA+ Widescreen (1440x900) TFT with Truelife 1 S
    Memory Dual Channel 3.0GB (1X2GB + 1X1GB) 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM 1 S
    Hard Drive 160GB Free Fall Sensor (7200RPM) 1 S
    8xDVD+/-RW Slim Slot-Load Drive, including SW 1 S
    Battery XPS Primary 6-cell 56WHr Li-Ion 1 S
Graphics Card 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT 1 S
    Intel® Pro Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Mini-PCI Card EUR 1 S
European - Dell TrueMobile 355 internal Bluetooth Module 1 S
    English - Vista Home Premium 1 S

I'm not all that bothered about £20 or £30, as I'm really keen to get my hands in it, especially since this is the second xps 1530 I've ordered (the first one returned for a grainy 1680x1050 screen), but if it's a really big difference I may consider cancelling and re-haggling.

    Thanks

It is hard to compare Euros to the Canadian Dollar since prices dont really translate to well. but in Canada you can get the same specs you provided for about $1800 CDN. So I think you did get a really good price. Plus the Penryn processor is worth spending a little more. It will save you about 2 - 6% on battery and give you approximatly 10% faster performance in office applications. if you play games you may not see a difference since the video card if your limiting factor not your processor.

    Hey

I have just ordered a t8300 and that was an additional £50.00 from the t7500. and she told me if i wanted the t9300 it would be £80.00.

But dell prices change day to day and consultant to consultant.

Mine was pretty much the same, just the HD, RAM and battery are different. The original price was also £990, so are comparable I suppose.
    Specs:
    XPS M1530 CORE 2 DUO T9300 2.50GHz
    15.4" WXGA+ (1440x900) TFT with Truelife
    Dual-Channel 2048MB (2x1024) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    250GB Serial ATA (5400RPM)
    8xDVD+/-RW Slim Slot-Load Drive
    XPS Primary 9-cell 85WHr Li-Ion
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT
    Vista Home Premium

    Total cost: £912

Assuming that the website listings are right, my system has cheaper HD (£15), cheaper RAM (£40), more expensive battery (£46), a difference of £9 net, and it cost you £5 more. That's an overall difference of £4. That's fair, assuming that we're both equally skilled at haggling.

Thanks, I feel a little better now. :)

Fingers crossed it's going to be better than the last XPS I had - apparently the sandy speckle effect and anti-light radiation coating was by design, at least according to the tech guy  ).

    Good karma to all. :D

PS I've actually just remembered it's a smidge cheaper than the t7700 w/1680x1050 screen I originally had.

I could have got the T9300 with mine for an extra £70. I decided not to bother because for me (gaming wise), the T8300 is plenty @ 2.4ghz and the it's certainly not going to hold the 8600 back even with the 3mb of cache rather than the 6mb cache of the T9300.

My total (if I include what I'm getting back from Quidco) for the same spec as my signature but with the T9300 would have been £767 delivered, or under £800 without Quidco.

Yeah, the trick is to get Dell sales to ring you.

If you ring asking for discount, they have the upper hand.

If you can get them to ring you, the tables turn and you can dictate the deal :)

Yeah, that's what I did. I played it like I was going to buy a HP instead, but I can't have been all that convincing.

    Oh well.

Well, to give you some kind of comparison I could have had:

    T9300
    1440x900
    2GB RAM
    250GB 5400RPM
    6 Cell
    DVDRW (not Blu-Ray)
    Standard Warranties
    Wireless N

All for £797 inc Delivery (or £765 if you include what I get from Quidco).

Is the extra HD space / RAM / Warranty / Blu-Ray worth over £450 more?.

As I mentioned, if you want to bargain hard to get a decent deal - get Sales to ring you, as then you are FAR more likely to get a bargain :). Mine was originally an online deal hence my Quidco still stands :D.

No links as of the 16th March that I could find. Give them a call and take Flam3h's advice and get them to call you with some kind of discount, or, when it does become available on the website, try and find some coupons and give quidco a go. I think you get another 5% off/back.

    Flame3h, can you confirm this?

Yes it's 5% of the order value minus VAT and shipping.

An example of getting them to ring you. Place your order online (with all the discount you can find). Ring them the next day saying you are not happy with your order as other people are getting better prices and you now plan on getting one with slightly better spec's.

Try to barter on the phone (before cancelling) - they will generally not budge or amend your order (this is to just show your not happy with your price). Cancel the order.

Once cancelled they will generally phone back within a few hours (they want the sale, the telephone rep's get commission).

When they ring back, proceed to haggle like mad (you have the upper hand!)- try for cheap upgrades (got my screen from 1280 to 1440 for £20) and extra discount (I managed 3-5% on top of an expired 10% voucher, as I said I would have waited for another 10% voucher to appear before I would re-order).

Should give you some idea about how to get a half decent deal out of Dell :D.

Yes I agree that it is best to phone sales and hum and haw with them! They are desperate to sell sometimes. In my case I phoned on the last day they offered 'buy now pay 1 year later'. I ended up getting a top spec XPS 1330 with 3 years on-site warranty for £925.

    Hello,
I've just been quoted £908 for a Red Product 1530.(see list below). The Sales Agents first quote was £969 which I politely declined... ;) I'm determined to do 'battle' with regards to haggling, as I know that this price isn't keen.

Has anyone spec'ed up a similar unit and got a fantastic deal?

I going to haggle re delivery charge ie I'm not paying it LoL... and will negotiate on extended warranties etc.

Look forward to reading your replies

    Julie

Thanks for responding so quickly! Dell are def' being cheeky regarding the price for a Product Red....It would appear that I cant even change from Vista Ultimate to Premium which keeps the price high.

I really like the red but common sense may have to prevail...

    Let battle commence!

I got the Vostro in my sig for £521 from Dell, but with only 1gb of RAM and a Celeron 550 CPU. I then ditched the Celeron myself for the Core 2 Duo which I got on eBay for £150, and picked up a 4GB DDR2 kit on Amazon for about £65

So in total I got mine for about £740
