My newly bought 1530 goes on an consistent black out freeze spree every two weeks. It happens when I try to wake the computer up after sleeping or hibernation. I use to think that this is just a problem that occured with hibernation functions using vista. But earlier this week, something new happened that blow my mind and made me think that it's much more than a software issue. After closing the lid on my 1530 for about two hours, the black screen freeze happened when I opened up the laptop. This happened without me manually putting the computer to sleep...

Anyone have had similar problems and know how to fix the issue?

Check your power settings for the monitor. It may well be your monitor going to sleep, which is perfectly normal depending on your settings.

What exactly do you mean by "black out freeze"? Does nothing happen, forcing you to force shut down?

Vista has had some sleep/hibernation issues which are supposed to be fixed by recent updates as well as the upcoming SP1 release. Do you have the latest Vista updates installed?

Which drivers are you using for your graphics card? I saw somewhere a post that said if you dont use the drivers that dell supply for the graphics card then the same symtoms occur that you are getting. Sorry I cant be of more help, I cant remember the place where I saw the post.

This is not true. I'm not using the Dell drivers and I have not experienced the problems outlined in the first post.
