I have a problem, i just bought my xps m1530 2 weeks ago, and since i got it the mouse is all sketchy...
if i close my laptop lid for a few minutes and i open it again and try to use my mouse...well it takes about 2 minutes to act normal. it has a mind of its own...anyone else have this issue or know how to solve it?

I was seeing some strange behavior at one point... As if the edge of the screen was in the middle. My mouse couldn't get past it. And simultaneously the pointer was jumping or skipping. But that only lasted a minute. And it could have been a vista/application problem.

More often, I find I am touching the touch pad in two places inadvertently.
    This causes strange behavior.

Maybe messing with the touch pad settings in the Mouse control panel might do something for you?

this seems to be a problem with all the 1530's. i believe it has something to do with the magnets to keep the lid secure. it took me a few minutes to figure out what was happening but apparently when i close my lid, it magnetises something so that the very top right corner of my mousepad gets recognised as being activated. (i see blue in the top right corner of the touchpad icon in the notification area)

a quick fix that i've found for myself is to start by touching the top right corner first and then dragging my finger to the middle of the touchpad. this usually instantly resolves my issue.

Hey, that's working for me, too, but it might take a few times. Sometimes when I do it, the spot on the system tray goes back to the upper right hand corner, and I just keep doing it until it doesn't any more and then the pad works perfectly.
