Does anyone know where I can buy a screen for my XPS 1530.

My current screen is 1200 x 800 and I would like something hi def.

I haven't been able to find anything on dell's site and would prefer not to buy from dell anyways since most of their parts are over priced.

I don't know any local vendors who could replace it, and it may be difficult allocating one that will be compatible with yours. However I can confirm that if you have dell do it and send it in for a different screen, it's a $500 upgrade charge + extra cost of the higher resolution.

I would definitely want to replace the screen on my own. Will they sell me just a screen and ship it? If so, does anyone know around how much it would be?

I'm not sure about if they can just sell you one... so I think it would probably just be best to give them a call so that you are sure your thoughts about what you can and can't do are correct. :) Just my $0.02.

Give Dell a call 1-800-357-3355 option 4. Tell them that you need a screen upgrade, and they can get the screen for you. WXGA+ screen will cost you around $268 included next day shipping. You can let Dell installed the screnn for you for $119 or you can do it yourself. If you are afraid that your bazel will be scratch, you can buy one from them for less than $40.

I don't think that have LED screen because I was trying to get LED screen but it was not available. WXGA is consider 720P, which is high-def. I would upgrade my screen to LED if they have available.

Finally, the warrany of the new screen will follow your laptop warrranty. I hope provide you more than enough information. :)

Yeah that is a very reasonable price lol. Usually Dell overprices their spare parts by some 150-200%. If you cant get the LED screens at Dell, you may want to checkout www.parts-people.com. They usually carry a decent supply of Dell screens.

I'm not sure about the model you are talking about but in general Samsung (one of the actual manufacturers of LCDs) usually make GREAT LCDs which many companies use like Sony. I think if you are unsure that you should see some in person...

Just for the record your screen is 1280x800 and is already hidef, well at least 720p compatible.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Dell labels their screens differently. Makes sense to keep it simple.
