Not to nitpick but with so many mentions of the XPS M1530's build quality; I thought I could've had the perfect one, until I set it upon an even surface that is. I've noticed that my XPS M1530 is slightly "lifted" where my left palm would rest. Whenever I rest my hand there it would be too obvious that my laptop is uneven when I'd hear the clunk sound as the rubber feet would hit the hard service, granted its only up about 1-2mm off the table. Anyone else experience this problem? Is it worth it talking to customer service about this? The rubber feet look to be even when comparing to each other but I don't know if its even something that can be fixed.

I had the same problem with a M1730 that I sent back, I haven't heard much about it recently on M1730's though.

your laptop is deffective and most of them are..but most ppl dont realize it or just live w/it i guess..iv had about 10 m1330s through my hands, they only get level after i bend the damn things out of shape..
-
had the same exact problem, there are several threads on this and most people just bend or twist it into shape. I did that to mine and now its steady!

Like a $2000 piece of putty I say!!!LOL!!

Same here. Do you have the larger battery?
-
Mine's even, sits perfectly like a obedient Labrador Retriever.
Hey sweet I notice I'm a notebook geek now. Awesome. -
Do you guys think that, if a notebook comes off the assembly line with a slight wobble, they disassemble it to fix the wobble? I bet that the assembly line employee takes the notebook and does what I did to fix the wobble: give it a judicious amount of bend in the right direction to fix the wobble.
Mine now sits as flat as a flapjack and works just fine.

yup, and thanks to you mine does now too! -
Sounds good, never thought about using my 1500 laptop like a paperclip but if it works for so many so far I'll give it a try. So what' you guys do? like stick the part of the laptop thats not straight off the table and put your weight down on it or you try to rip it apart like a phone book?

I have the same problem, i just eceived my laptop on tuesday. I contacted customer support and they have sent me complete bottom chassis. I don't want to replace it myself as it consists of around 20 screws and 2-3 connectors.
Am waiting for a technician to come and replace it for me. Hopefully it should be levelled once i have it replaced. -
Thanks guys, bent the corner in place and the laptop is balanced now. Hopefully this permanently fixes it and doesn't break anything. What a crazy solution to such a simple problem, I'd suggest you try the same thing rohitp78 just to see if it might work for you as well.
-
yup, mine is the same way....it seems to be 4mm or more though. VERY noticeable....I should ask for a replacement.
-
glad it worked for you, been a week since i did it and no ill effects yet
-
Yeah, my 1330 is the same way...kind of pisses me off. It was a replacement for a very defective M1210 I got over a year ago. I mean I love the slot load DVD drive, and the updated hardware, but the chassis quality on the 30 seriers XPS's is no where near as good as it was on my 1210. That thing was like a rock, and this thing feels flimsy.
Im surprised that some people were actually able to "bend" it into shape. Im a bit weary to try that, but if its worked for others, I just might do it. -
You can search for an earlier post of mine on how I fixed the wobble. It's pretty easy. Be sure to have your display open when "reconfiguring" the base of your machine.
