    Hi All,

What could be the pros and cons of 1680x1050 vs 1440x900 screens in XPS 1530 or both are well and good ?

Assuming both the above are non grainy LG screens .

    Thanks.

I couldn't really say for a 15.4" screen, but I'm currently using 1680x1050 on my 17" and everything is tiny. I tried 1440x900 and it was fine, but I prefer having more screen space. :)

    Hey

I was going to get the 1050 screen, but thought to myself how can almost 100,000 people have problems with them?

Or almost 100,000 people viewed the thread.

So I opted for a 900, its amazing blacks are black and whites are white.

I got a full viewing angle with no distortion, and its a LG

    Good luck hope thats helped.

Oh plus the 900 res is cheaper, and better

They both look good on a 15 inch screen it is just that everything will look smaller on the 1050 than the 900

my first m1530 had the 1680 screen and i had to adjust the settings for increased dpi, my replacemebt m1530 has the kr515 LG 1440 and I love it. i have very few items on my desktop so the bigger resolution doesnt matter to me. i can say this the kr515 far surpasses the samsung 1680 lcd i had for clarity and accurate colors.

I changed the screen resolution of my order from 1680 to 1440 at the very last moment .

Now Im supposed to get " M809C " screen part number .

I think this part number is particularly for Asian countries.By the way Im in India.

So I would be thankful to anyone who could shed some more light on " M809C" ?

    Is it LG ?

    Is it good ?

Are there any shortcomings in " M809C" ?

Opinions of anyone who actually has this screen would be very much appreciated .

    Thanks.

I just got the 1440 x 900 for my daughter...

Colours were nice, no bleed, even lighting...

Resolution is a good compromise on a 15.4 between the 3 sizes.

    My daughter was extrememly impressed....

i have a 1680x1050 samsung here, and ive always had a lust for high res

I study architecture, so my main requirements of a comp.. autocad, 3ds max, and photoshop. all benifit from high res precision, and the smaller gui of each app leaves space to do the actal work.

I have to say though, having to knock down the res for more modern games so its no longer native does make it look a little odd. I imagine that if you have a gd chance at a decent 900 screen, you'll be happy for regular stuff.

Go in for the 1440 x 900 screen. Unless you want to wear glasses soon (if you already have glasses, rest assured your power will increase! I am serious, from my personal experience)

OP: instead of relying on other users' personal preference, go to an electronics store and see the resolutions for yourself. You may prefer the 1680x1050, or it may be too big for you. Only you can know this.

gopz: That is just not true. Regardless of resolution, you should take a 1-2 minute break for each hour of looking at your monitor. Failing to do so is what probably weakened your vision.

I've had experiences with both. I have 20/15 vision, and I thought the 1680 was way too damn small. I ended up changing the DPI setting. The 1440x900 was just about perfect for me.

Had Dell laptops been available on "computer shops in India" I wouldn't have asked these questions.

    I've seen both and I prefer 1440x900.
I do a LOT of photo editing and it works fine for me.
For those of you who want to cram more on your screen get a desktop with a 21" monitor. I did. ;)
Not sure? Go to an electronics store and see the resolutions for yourself.

Hi- Quicky question on this- isnt is possible to purchase the larger resolution and then lower it to 1440x900? Or is the resolution not as good because it is not in the native res?

    It's the 1440x900 for me, and my 1530 FTW ;) :))) LOL
No, I just really like it, as it fits my needs.

And that is what you need to look at, what you want the size of the screen for, etc. ;) :D
