Hey guys, I'm new around here (about 10 minutes new) so be niceAnd BTW, this could get long, but I'd really appreciate help/opinions.
Anyways, I was just about to order a XPS M1530 (I live in Australia) and was all pumped up last night to get this done. I had all the specs picked out and was going to get it in Arctic White. Unfortunately, this morning they had taken the Arctic White option off of this list. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal for me, but for a while now I've been trying to decide between the the 1530 and the 1330, and the 1530 really only just came out on top.
See, I'm starting University (college) again this year and really felt I needed a laptop to carry around to 2 hour lectures at a time. But I also wanted to be able to game occasionally on it (not games like Crysis, I have a PC for that). In addition to that, I needed something I could run Photoshop and Dreamweaver on because I'm going to be doing web development on it (long story, not going to get into it).
In short, I needed something both portable and powerful. Obviously the 1330 gets the prize for portability and battery life, and it still has some power to it, but...
The 1530 had the larger screen which would be handy. It also had (and this pretty much clinched it for me) a 256 DDR3 8600GT. While the 1330 comes with a 128 DDR3 8400M GS.
It took me a while to finally decide on the 1530. It had the bigger screen and the vastly better graphics card. But the 1330 was so much more portable. And had comparable performance. But now, this normally insignificant set back has me thinking again, and I figured I'd better ask the experts.
Should I go with the 1530 or choose the 1330 instead?
Is the 256 8600M GT that much better than the 128 8400M GS?
Does anyone have any benchmarks of the two?
Like I said earlier, I'd really appreciate any opinions/information you guys can give me. Thanks in advance for any help!
EDIT: Just thought I'd ad the specs of each...

Personally, I would go with the 1330. The 1530's graphics card is better, but the NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS should suffice just fine for photo editing. Most people choose the 1530 and it's better graphics card for higher-end gaming. And the 1330's graphics card handles less powerful games, like WoW and even Oblivion, just fine.
If you really want the 1530, go ahead and go for it. But I would personally recommend the 1330.
And welcome to NBR. -
See, that's the thing. I really want to play games at, at least the level of Team Fortress 2. So I'm not sure the 8400 would cope too well.
I heard someone else somewhere else (sorry for not being specific) saying that they might just be trying to get rid of all their stock so that they can bring in some new products (like the LED screens). If that's true, I'd be more than happy to wait.
