I've recently ordered a XPS 16 on the 16/11 with a EDD of 26/11.
On the 15/11, i was told that my screen was out of stock - the black WLED.
I could either change it to the red WLED or cancel the order.
I chose to have the red WLED screen as i wasn't too bothered.
My order was then confirmed and went into pre-production.
It's been in 'work in progress' since 16/11 and thought that there may be a problem as it was coming to close to the EDD.
After speaking to a customer service advisor, it turns out that they have a shortage of the red WLED too.
Also on the dell online shop, they no longer sell any WLED screens for XPS 16 with only the RGB screen left as an option.
I'm in the UK by they way.
Has anyone ordered the XPS 16 recently and experienced this problem?

Hi
My experience was the same as yours but 2 days earlier, but I was not given the red option. On the 19/11 the UK site had i7's with RGBLED screen, so I went for that instead, was only an extra £90 so not bad. Mine, as of today 22/11 is now in production; EDD 8/12; fingers crossed -
Update:
Just checked and it has already shipped from China -
Hi
After reading your post and getting nowhere with customer service on when i'll be getting the laptop, i decided to cancel the order and just order it again with the RGBLED screen.
In the process of cancelling now and a customer sales adviser said she'll make the new order within 24hrs with a EDD of 3/12.
She said she could use my money i paid for the first order on the new order straight away and just pay the difference which was £78.
So fingers crossed it all works out!
Congrats on the shipping, let me know how it turns out and what the laptop's like
