New to notebooks and need advice......I do a lot of video and graphics editing and am looking to buy a laptop that I can take with me occasionally although it will mostly be used at home. Should I buck up and get the XPS gen 2 even though I'm not much of a gamer? Or will the 9300 do the trick? Also which config. would be best for what I need if I go with 9300? I'd love to hear any advice or tips. Thanks.

The XPS2 is more than likely overkill for your needs. The I9300 with the 256MB GF Go6800 is plenty powerful enough for high-end gaming, so vidoe/graphics editing and 3D modelling shouldn't be a problem for it. Save some money by getting the default (256MB) RAM and adding 2GB of Transcend ($109 a stick for 1GB sticks) from newegg.com.

The XPS2 is all about the GPU , if you're not a gamer the 9300 will be fine .
For visual editing get the WUXGA , its suppose to be more vivid and will give you better display of hi res images .
However if you are a pro , be aware the Inspiron display is not top notch .
