So here's the deal... I have a 3 year old XPS Gen 2 laptop that has had a large number of hardware problems, especially in the past few weeks. In the past month alone Dell has replaced the system board, the screen twice, and the video card. After I had another problem with the screen, the issue was escalated and the technician I was speaking to obtained authorization to replace the system. All I have been told is that it will be a system "of equal or greater value" to the one that I currently have. I do graphic design and I'm a gamer so having the 17" screen that I have on this one and having a graphics card is pretty important. I'm hoping that I get a new system and not a refurbished Gen 2 (because I feel like that'll just have the same problems again). Has anybody experienced a similar system replacement and how did it work out for you?

you will probably get a refurbished m1710, that's what i got. look at it carefully, because dell is slipping on the refurbs lately. mine is completely thrashed and non functioning so it is going back Monday...
