    Hi Guys, :)
    i'm from Italy.
    I'm considering to buy a XPS M 1530 with a Blu-Ray unit.
Next months i'll go for 6 months in the UK and then 1 year in the U.S.
I would like to use my notebook to watch DVD movies... because i'll not have a tv or a place where to place it (i'll stay in a room inside a hotel)...
The problem, u know, is that Europe has a Region Code 2 and US a Region Code 1... then i cannot watch many american DVD-Video (just Region Free DVD...).

I have seen that motion picture studios have divided the world in Areas another time with Blu-Ray technology...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc

Do u know if Dell offers a Blu Ray unit built without a Region Code?

    Thanks :)

all Blu-Ray players have regions, but don't worry ;)

get AnyDVD HD, it can break region protection and watch any DVD or any Blu-ray disc with out problems.

Blu-ray on a 15" screen is waste of time IMO. Fine if you're hooking it up to a large screen via HDMI but you'd be hard pressed to see much diffierence between it and a standard def DVD on a notebook.

    Hi, :)
    i have a few questions:

    1) If i install AnyDVD HD it "cracks" the region code and i'm able to watch any movie?
How many time does it need for watching a DVD-Video?

    2) I suppose i haven't to save a DVD copy in the h.d. like DVD Fab does...

    3) What about the next 3-4 years market in the U.S.?
Will Blu-Ray DVD replace the DVD-Video in Blockbuster's Stores?

    Thank you very much ;)

    1) If you mean how long it takes, It instant, you just have it set to region free, and watch movie, nothing else is required.

    2) AnyDVD 6.4 also cracks BD+, so if you want you can back it up with integrated disc ripper, but ripping is not required to watch the disc

    3) It will take more then 3-4 years

Not to burst your bubble, or anything, but on my m1530 with the 1680 x 1050 screen, blu-ray movies look noticeably better than normal DVDs.

Now, if I can just get disney discs to work...

I beg to differ. I think there is quite a difference between normal DVD's and blu ray. The blu ray is definitely a cut above, even on a 15" screen.
