hey all, back with another question regarding my xps m1210. back maybe a month or so ago i posted a thread about how my battery wear had already reached significant amounts, which i was told could be incorrect or something not to worry about too much. well im back at this similar situation. after 2months ive seen my battery wear jump to 42% with a reading from mobilemonitor. i seem to trust this because my battery was only lasting around 2 hours and 30minutes with the sound muted, running on max battery with the lowest settings possible. (on the extended battery). i recalibrated the battery and now the wear is at 23%, still lasting less than 4 hours with the lowest settings possible. i never leave my battery in after its done charging because im often using it for long periods with the AC in.

i just dont understand how this could be happening....faulty battery or something? i heard theres no warrentys for the batteries...and im in need of long battery life so im assuming i would have to buy a new battery? i just dont understand how the batteries capacity could have dropped so much after such a short period of time.

How often do you run it on battery Brown? With each discharge cycle. Your battery will suffer wear. If you run on battery often enough it adds up.

Does the battery still charge to 100%?

Have you tried checking the battery in the bios?

i usually run it on battery for around 4 hours a day, and then i charge it back up to 100% when i get home. after i charge to 100% i usually take the battery out, because hte laptop is on for serveral hours afterwards. i have checked teh bios as well as on the power settings and it says my battery is performing normally...this doesnt seem normal to me though. and yes it still charges up to 100%. although lately i have noticed that after it charges to 100%, i put it into sleep mode and when i turn it on 20 or so minutes later the batter is already down to 95-90%

Sometimes Dell will replace a battery if the wear is signifigant before 6 months has passed. Call them or hop online and plead your case; no matter what we tell you here, they have the final say.

I have used my m1210 for one month.
Yesteday,I tested the battery(9 battery cores) using batterymon v2.0.
I found that the full charge capacity had gone to 81374mWh.
    The design capacity is 86580mWh.
    Is there something wrong?
