i never use media direct, although i did set it up a few months ago, last night i accidentally pushed the button and it launched and froze. i had to hold the power button and shut down the system. now Vista will not start up (it ran the Dell intro screen, then flashed a blue screen and back to the Dell intro screen), in normal or safe mode. i ran the autorepair feature, it said it found and repaired a hard drive error. after that it would get past the Dell screen and into the Microsoft screen that shows the little green bar loading and goes to a black screen with just my mouse curser. I can move around the mouse, but can't do anything else (no ctrl+alt+delete, no anything). Has anyone seen this before? Any other advice before I try to reinstall Vista?
Thanks!

Have you tried pushing the house button again? I find when MD fails to load it reverses my power and MD button so that pressing the power button will continue to try and load MD, but pushing the MD button either loads vista properly or loads MD to a fail state after which vista loads with the normal power button.
Either way try both buttons a few times. -
Thanks for the advice, I've tried pressing both the MD button and the House(power) buttons- both do their functions (MD load MD, House turns on system) but both take me to a black screen with just my cursor visible, although in the MD screen I can bring up the task manager through ctrl alt del...
