I am planning to buy the XPS M1210 with 9cell battery, T2400 cpu, GMA 950 graphics (dont know if there is anything else that is relevant?) I wonder does this baby get hot? And does it make much noise (plan to use it in class).

Also i might aswell ask here. Is there any noticable difference in heat issues between the T2300E and T2400? Also how much faster is the T2400?

    Thanks alot.

Don't worry about the cpu. I have the 7400 gc and my lappy gets hot... And i get weird clicking noise which has dissapated but don't tell anyone, ok?

As long as you're not playing heavy games while in class and your teacher is teaching you and fellow students. Just kidding, it won't get hot as long as you're not running too much process on that machine all at once. Therefore, the fan doesn't spin and make a loud racket. When it does get loud, nobody will probably even hear it.

I have used the m1210 before, on my lap. It gets a little bit warm on the bottom but its not that bad when just doing light tasks. The intel graphics should also cut down on some heat... There is no real difference between the T2300 and T2400. The T2400 is not even 10% faster than the T2300. I don't think its worth the extra $75-100. Spend that money on a RAM upgrade or a faster 7200RPM HD.
