I've just ordered an M1210 and need some advice.

I live in Turkey, not a good place to buy any tech stuff, and have had to buy a notebook with a Turkish keyboard (yes, I know I could have bought one somewhere else, but the world wide warranty / service is not accepted by Dell here........as they are crap).

So, here is my plan. The machine will be delivered with Turkish XP Pro and Turkish keyboard. I will load an English edition of XP Pro myself, so the machine will have both (I will sometimes need to use TR as well). But, what to do about the keys? The Turkish language has several characters not seen elsewhere and the keyboard layout reflects this.

    I could:
    1) Buy stickers to put over the TR characters and change them to an English layout.
    2) Try to find replacement keys and change the whole thing over to English.

I prefer to keep the option of turning it back into a TR machine at a later date, although it will spend most of its life as an English unit.

Which of the two options would people recommend and if the second, where can I buy the right replacement keys without having to buy the whole keyboard as a single unit?

You can use a Turkish keyboard with the English Win XP. Just change the keyboard layout from standard US English to Turkish. This can be done during the instalation of Windows or anytime in the Control Panel under 'Regianl and Language Options' then go to 'Languages' and Details under Text Imput. Remove add the TR Keyboard and remove the US one. You will have to reboot once.

Like wave said you can change the setting of your keyboard to the English language. It doesn't even have to be the English Win XP.
I use English Win XP on my laptop. It's an english keyboard but I have it on French. I know where all the keys are on a French keyboard so that doesn't bother me. But I think you already knew that....

You can probably order an english keyboard for your Dell laptop. You remove your current one and replace it with the english one. I don't think it's too hard to remove a keyboard but I've never done it myself.

    Have a look here.

You can look on ebay to buy an english keyboard for your laptop.
