I received the m1210 about a week ago.Everything works fine for the first few days and on the 5th day, I noticed that the top of my screen (AUO screen) is a little wavy so I called up Dell and they said they will replace the lcd screen. So the next day two technicians came and replaced my screen with a Samsung one.

Now here's where all my problems started. After they left, I switched on the laptop and left it idle. After two hours, I came back and the laptop feels hot, especially on the right palm rest area. The left palm rest area is not hot or anything.

I called Dell up and they sent some guys over the next day. They took off the cover, keyboard etc and they found out that something is broken on the screen area.So they are going to replace the cover and also the screen (bad light leakages problem) for me this Monday.

Now, after 15 mins of being switched on, I can feel the heat at the right palm rest area and it's really bothering me coz the heat wasn't there before they replaced the LCD.

    Here's my question :
When I eject the dvd burner, I can feel the tray (the place where you put the dvds) heats up (within 15 mins of the laptop being switched on).In fact, it's even hotter than the right palm rest.Is that normal? I haven't played any cds or dvds since two days ago.

I don't do any gaming.Mostly surfing and chatting.

Unless its terribly hot, I don't think its a cause for alarm. Maybe you could get your fans moving a bit more often, but I think that Dell's do get pretty hot...and such a small form like the m1210 with the power of bigger notebooks in the 14/15" range, one would expect that kind of heat.
