I recently recieved my XPS M1210, and have been testing it out, and have had an annoyance with it, i dont know if its a problem that can be fixed by chaning some settings, or even a problem, but it bugs me.

-I will be watching movies or surfing the net for a while, then there is a split second flash of the screen, hard to describe, but for a split secound (just long enough to notice), the screen turns whitish. It is annoying since when watching a movie i devote my whole attention to it...and every couple of minutes the screen just flashes white 4 a split sec, and it is distracting and annoying =(

Hints on how to fix, or what to do, (this is my first laptop and iono if all laptops do this)...so ty =D

Have you tried different power settings? Try setting it to max performance, if it is not already.

Sounds like it might be some program running in the background (like antivirus) and causes problems. Then again, it could be the video card also.

Try reinstalling/updating your video card drivers (can be downloaded from support.dell.com)

Have you reformatted? How many processess do you have running in the back ground? Does this happen only with one certain movie, all movies or just anytime you are using the laptop? Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks for all the answers...i have not spent the time reformatting yet, i have read ur thread Southern Girl and found it very helpful, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with the actual computer b4 i spent alot of time reformatting.

This can be when watching movies, but even when im just surfing the net or chatting online, so i guess its anytime I use it...everyonce in a while it flashes, I will try doing what you guys reccomended when i get home from work, ty =D

Yeah, def. sounds like a video card driver problem. Hopefully updating the driver will fix it. If not, we will try other things.
