Got a problem with booting my XPS M1210 from time to time, This means that after the windows logo loading screen my screen go black and the HD activitie goes off and then it just wont boot, only thing i can then do is go to save mode and reboot (works every time and it then works till the next bootup). Im thinking its a software conflict? or might it even be my hard drive? any advice on this is more then welcome.

I also wonderd where to alter the memory of the videocard (Nvidia GO 7400) since i couldt find that option inside the bios.

    Thanks in Advance

I'd back up your files then reformat the thing. If reformatting still has the same results then thats for sure a hardware problem and i'd call dell. Otherwise you could just call dell now, but if format first.

    It can be 2 issues.
    1. Daemons emulator causes a problem with the logitech drivers and it stales the boot up.
No do not start your pc is the emulator on.
    Disable it.
ALcohol 120 is also known to give the laptop a bit of a headache.

Try flashing the BIOS, that might do it.

If I were you at this stage id call dell. If your down to the point of having to flash your bios just to see, id let them figure it out. After all you get the 1 yr service free with it. You re installed xp, id definatley say its a hardware problem. Most likley a problem with a defective graphics card.

well its ur laptop, may not be the graphics card. I just figure its hardware related if it also happened right after you re formatted. You wiped the system clean right? It hapepend before you re installed ner, alchol, etc?

Next time it happens, Hold Fn and Press F8 (CRT/LCD).

    See if it works.

Safe mode, then go to START -> RUN. Type MSCONFIG. Disable everything under services tab that is not a Microsoft Service. Also disable everything under the startup tab. Once you reboot normally, just try using the system like that for a while and add things as you need them. Google the files that auto start that you have no idea what they are used for.

This method works great for diagnosing computers that might pass all hardware tests using F12.

oke, so i fixed the startup problems, this leaves me with the problem of not knowing how to assign more memory to my videocard? (its at 64mb atm and i want to crank it up to 128mb or even 256mb, this helps any with game performance?) any help on that issue?
