    I have a very weird problem with my XPS M1210 that every time I close the lid, the screen get resized down to 800x600 and then when I open it it gets resized back to the regular 1280x800(somtimes it does not and then I have to resize it manually). It also does when I am hibernating the computer. I would not care about that, if all the icons did not get messed up every single time I close and then open the lid. terefore I can use only very small portion of the screen for icons, which I dont like at all. Also, all the windows get resized, what is pain in the ass too. What can be the problem? I would appreciate any help, because this is one irritating problem I have with otherwise perfect XPS. Thanks a lot

    My friend has the Thinkpad X60 and he also has the same problem. There was a thread on this a week ago, so do a search, the solution may have been found.

    This was discussed and a solution (for most people) was found on Notebookforums.com for nVidia adapters on the M1710. This might help you if you have an nVidia-based card in your M1210. It fixed the same problem as you are having on my M1710:

    The solution is to modify LidBehavior registry value in nvidia card registry key from 0x11 to 0x10:
    1. Open registry editor (Run->regedit)
    2. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video registry key
    There are several subkeys composed of random hexadecimal numbers. Each of those subkeys have its own subkeys 0000 and 0001. Find the key corresponding to the nvidia card. This is the key whose 0000 and 0001 subkeys contain a lot of values (such as individual games settings etc)
    3. In 0000 subkey, find LidBehavior value. On my system, its default value is 11 (hexadecimal). Change it to 10 (hexadecimal)
    4. Reboot
