I've had my XPS M1210 that I got off dell outlet for a bit over a year now. The warranty has recently expired. Anyway my battery seems to be headed for the dumps. It randomly drops from ~60% down to 7% and shuts off minutes later. Sometimes when I unplug it from AC power, it will instantly jump from 100% down to 85%. Also, 70% reads as 40 minutes remaining. It has been slowly declining since I got it, but this is bad :( I loved the 3:30 or so I got when I first purchased the laptop. It's the 6 cell battery. It spends most of it's life plugged in and I rarely fully drain the battery. Did this contribute to it's death? I guess it's time to move on to the M1530...

Not discharging it most likely lead to a premature failure. Instead of buying a new laptop, why not just buy a new battery. They are cheap on ebay. Its a lot less than a whole new lappy!
