I just got a new XPS m1210 yesterday. I notice a hissing type noise in the right corner of the system closest to the monitor if you are facing it. It also stops when I scroll on the internet then starts up again. It is pretty annoying, and I notice it more when its on battery.

My question is: is this a problem with EVERY xps m1210 unit or only a select few? I really like the system other than this, and some heat issues in the bottom left if you are facing the screen, but its most likely because I have the geforece 7400 option.

    Thanks~

Here was a thread about this but it didnt really answer my question:

EDIT * I called Dell XPS support and basically was told this was normal, which I find hard to believe based on other people's experiences...

this problem has been described in much detail in a lot of threads. basically, it is a cpu problem where it whines when it enters the c4 sleep state (i.e. when it is on battery or on low power consumption)

if you search high pitched whine on these forums, you will find more information as well as possible fixes.

Alright, thanks for the help. I may just return it then, or try to fix the issues through searching in threads. Sounds like it is with all M1210's!
