    Hi,

I have an M1330 on which I installed Windows XP Pro SP2 using the Dell OEM disks from another Laptop.

I have installed drivers for everything (no alerts in Device manager)
My problem is that I can not use standby or hibernation

The shutdown portion of the proceedure works, but I can not power up after I selected standby.

    I obverse the following:

    - I select standby (or hibernate), and the computer powers off cleanly and completely
    - I press the power button for 2-3 sec
    - The laptops turns on, the media buttons do a small 'light dance'
    - The screen displays nothing
    - the blue LED at the top of the screen (left of the camera) blinks
    - nothing further happens

The laptop is "on" but will not start windows XP or even show me a bios screen...nothing.

The next step is for me to hold down the power button for 10sec until the laptop powers down. Now pressing the power button will result in the usual "cold boot" with Bios splash screen and all.

    Has anyone seen similar behavior?
Please tell me you have and know the answer, this is killing me.

    - Martin

Well for one you should not be using OEM discs from another laptop. That is illegal.

For two, you do not have all your drivers installed. ACPI will not work correctly when that happens, thus your problem.

Alright, let's talk about what drivers are needed for APCI to work properly.
Could you point me in the right direction? A Link perhaps?

Use the drivers from the dell website except use the driver for the VOSTRO 1500.

    Service Tag: CTCNHD1

Those drivers as far as I know are all compatible for the M1330 running XP. It saved me a bunch of headache.
