I have a new M1330 and the DVD drive is really loud. I mean, there's a loud whirring the entire time and the unit itself vibrates. Is that just me, or is that the norm for the drives? Just trying to figure out if I should get the problem addressed during my total satisfaction period. Sorry if it's a stupid question.

Thats just how notebook drives are. Its the loudest part due to their compact size

OK, just wondering because my M1530 is pretty quiet. I mean, I'm talking about as quiet as a desktop drive. In comparison, my M1330 drive is like a woman during her time of the month. (heh heh heh)

I'm sure there are some women who would be very offended by that comment.

My m1330 drive made noise, but was no means "loud". No louder or softer than my MacBook drive either.

Some drives are just like that. Mine sounds like its going back and forth 100 times per second when installing games

My M1330 DVD drive (Matsushida) is very quiet and cool compared with my all other laptops. Way better than my M1210 except its only got 2 USBs compared to 4 USBs on my M1210.
