FWIW, www.ideastorm.com has a proposal for Dell to offer a more powerful graphics chip than the Nivida 8400M. Here is the link if you want to vote on whether this is a good idea or not:

    http://www.ideastorm.com/article/show/10077207/256MB_Geforce_9500M_GS_Upgrade_for_the_M1330_Possible

Although it specifies the GeForce 9500, and a better solution may be available, at least it draws the attention of Dell management to the demand for a higher grade of graphics capability for the XPS M1330 than is currently offered.

I'm guessing that the laptop would melt if Dell did that. Seriously, there are NO laptops of this size with a more powerful card...and I'm sure heat and power are why.

i think the m1330 was made for portability...with the 8600gt wouldn't the battery life decrease because of a more powerful card?

The battery life will decrease but the laptop will overheat and it will be inpossible to run anything

Both a higher powered GPU (8600) and a higher resolution screen (1440x900) have landed in the 13.3" form factor from competitors. I'd rather see the resolution bump and wait for a cooler running 9 Series GPU than cook my thighs on an old 86'er at this point.

I'd be interested to see what WXGA+ looks like on 13.3 inches of LED. I can't decide whether or not it would be usable until I see it first hand. With this in mind, when you review a WXGA+ screen at this size, please get some close-up comparisons between this and the standard WXGA guys. That would be greatly appreciated.
