It's like this notebook was put on the market way before it was even ready. Dell wasn't prepared to handle so many orders, or serious problems arose
I don't know what the deal is but I will not wait until the end of August for this notebook, get real! My money will go somewhere else.
-
Yea!!!! Ive heard so many say that they are pulling their orders now I should be up a week....which puts me right around Halloween now.
-
Yea so basically they had to change the blog for legal reasons. When Dell quotes an estimated ship date they are obligated to that date or to inform their customers if there would be a delay to extend beyond this date. Because it would cost Dell more money to call people and explain why there is a delay, they just give worst case scenarios on ship dates (usually by a week or two). Any time a rep says anything other than on or before XX date they are breaking company policy and could potentialy get Dell in trouble. Do reps do it? Yea all the time.... It is easier to get someone off the phone by giving them an expected shipping date followed up by "oh well it really shouldn't take that long, maybe give it a couple days". So don't expect much truth behind the words of whoever you talk to thats say it will ship sooner.
-
*sigh*.... its taunting us... and pissing me off a bit. Heh....

I love how the blog says ~30 working day wait time. My #@#@#@#@#@#@! Let's be realistic and rate it in non-working days and it is more like 8-weeks wait time for some of us.
Order Date: July 28th
Expected Ship: August 22nd
Est. Delivery Date: 8/27/2007-8/29/2007
Let's count them..... 55 days until the expecited ship date. Add the time for delivery and we are looking at 60-62 days.... -
ummm 60+ days , i told dell customer service already this wait is outrageous. If I don't see that thing in early august, who know what i'll do. Cancel my order? possibly. but now i'll wait and see.

We're all in the same stranded boat ... -
... i feel like the boat is sinking ...

If Sony come out with new SZ before my XPS shipped, I will jump ship immediately. They both look exactly alike anyway.
-
I was thinking the same thing but who knows if it will have things such as led screen and hdmi which to me at least are very important and make this stand out among others of its kind along with many other features but to me this are the ones that stand out most
-
Lets just hope that the laptops still ship really early.... but I will jump ship if this takes forever. :-(
-
so i called the order status line today and i was so happy when i finally heard that it has moved from pre-production to the build stage.....im still quoted to have a august 15th estimated ship date, but does it really take a month to build???........im assuming it has all the parts now since its in the build stage.....someone tell me if im wrong..........
-
-
When did you order? and what options did you get? -
i ordered on the 30th of june.....i was on a budget so i got the following specs..
core 2 duo 5250 1.5 gigs
2 gig ram
120 gb HD
STANDARD LCD w/ 2 mp camera....kinda kicking myself about not getting the LED but tried to change it but wouldve shipped in september!!
6 cell battery
i think the standard LCD might be why im actually in build now.....the LED is prolly experiencing huge delays...... -
maybe... but there are people around your date (with LED screens) that are also in BUILD...
-
true but i think some of the people that had LED that are in build ordered really early.....maybe, maybe not.....yeah i dunno, this delay is really starting to get to me......i think its so retarded that dell wasnt prepared for the release......i mean, how can u be unprepared for a release of a prime product.....simply inexcusable for a company like dell......
-
Oh great... my order disappeared. Hmmmmmm....

1. Dell was absolutely not prepared for this level of sales. Typically their XPS line (aside from the M140) are niche, gaming products, but the M1330 has really expanded the market - it's not just gamers (in fact, they're less targeted by the weaker 8400M GS) but users who want a stylish, small (relatively), and light laptop. I think that's the criteria of many laptop buyers and add on the fact that it's not an exorbitent amount of money, and you've got a success on your hands. I don't think Dell realized just how many people are willing to throw in a couple to few hundred extra dollars to get this laptop over something else.
2. Of course they wanted to launch the M1330 alongside the other Inspirons on June 26th. The M1330 is the flagship - it brought a ton of media coverage and buzz to Dell in general. It's a commonly used tactic in the marketplace. I think what's making people more angry than would be expected is the lack of communication of expectations. Many reps promised things that they should not have (like my rep said, 'oh yeah, would you be comfortable with Dell's 10-15 day delivery time from the time of the order?' Yeah, if only that were the case). In addition, there's been a lot of hype - people were telling each other, don't worry about the estimated ship dates, they'll get to you earlier. Not the case here.
If Dell isn't able to ship them on or before your estimated ship dates, you have every right to be frustrated and complain. However, if your own expectations of an earlier ship date are not met, you don't really have a basis for complaint, as long as it's within the estimated time Dell provides. -
