I've been lurking on this forum for months but this is my first post. My XPS M1330 with the Penryn processor arrived today, everything seems fine but I'm wondering why it arrived with bios version A08 when it's version A09 that is supposed to be compatible with the Penryn chip. When I use my service tag # to see what downloads there are available nothing is showing up so it might not be in the data base yet. How is it that it works fine if the bios version is incompatible?
On another note the midnight blue color is beautiful, much nicer than it shows on Dells site. It's a very dark almost purplish color, very classy.

The BIOS revision A08 for Dell XPS M1330 supports Penryn processors but it is an internal revision and not available for consumers. The person who built your notebook hasn't done his or her job properly and flashed your BIOS with an internal revision. I am sure, your drivers wouldn't be the latest either.

Install the latest revision of BIOS and other drivers and utilities from here. You might also be interested in this Midnight Blue M1330 review!

    Hey,
I actually received mine yesterday and it also came with A08. I was wondering but it all work fine so I didn't worry much about it. I just flash my bios to A9 though.

Could be that revision A08 addressed support of Penryn processors but A09 addressed issues for different CPU's.

Haven't looked at the bios revision specs so can't say for certain.
