    Hi,
Here's a problem I've had on and off with my 1330.
It seems to have troubles sleeping.
Sometimes when I try to sleep it, the screen will turn off, but the computer will continue to run. I'm then forced to power it off manually with the power button.
It's not every time, but maybe once for every 3 or 4 times.

    Anyone else have this problem?

This is a widespread problem with vista. Dozens upon dozens of people have reported the problem on here in the past several months. For me, I had the same issue when I tried using Dell's OEM installation of Vista. When I reformatted my notebook with a new Vista that I purchased and installed, all my sleep problems were gone. Some users said that a windows hotfix solved their problem, and others that the hotfix did not. So it is a highly variable problem in that some solutions work for some people and not others. The hot fixes did not work for me. Only a reformat with a different Vista dvd did it for me.

After a clean installation of Windows Vista, try these tried and tested drivers and utilities and you should not have any issues.

I just did a clean install of Vista Ultimate. the first time I messed up b/c I did all the windows updates at once. I thought if Microsoft thinks it can handle doing them all at once, I'll just let it run. the problem was, the computer froze while shutting down after it installed the updates. I let it sit there for 30 minutes, hoping that it would shut down on its own. It didn't work. In hindsight, I could have done a system restore to before those updates. That's what I would recommend to you if your system is still fresh.

Now, with my new install, I did about 7-8 updates at a time. I also installed the latest video drivers from the laptop video site. I am using 174.12 and it seems to work fine. I'm not having any more sleeping problems. I would have shut down problems previously, as well. It took me a whole day to get my computer the way I wante, but now that it works perfect, it was well worth it.

Also, I find that the computer is smoother without the Dell quickset. All of the FN keys work fine without it. I really dont need anything customized by dell on my computer anyways. I would find that when I turned wireless off and on with quickset installed, the bluetooth icon in the tray icon would disappear.
