Ive been shopping for accessories in anticipation of getting my notebook and was looking at different laptop sleeves for the M1330. It will be sleeved and carried in a laptop bag as well, just want the extra protection.

So far I like the Incase design. Im wondering if the M1330 will fit into the 13" case? I cant find interior dimension specs for the Incase products. One thing that I like the most is the zipper doesnt have any contact with the computer inside the case, so there wont be any scratches created by the case.

Here is a link to the 13" case: http://www.compusa.com/products/pro...ne_Sleeve_for_Apple_13_inch_MacBook_Notebooks

I guess if necessary I can go with a 15" sleeve but I was looking for a snug fit to minimize scratching or sliding of the unit.

lol i was thinking the same thing :D

My laptop bag is for a 15" laptop so i dont want it rolling around in there.

I saw a couple of macbook ones when i was out looking the other day. I recon they will do the trick.

Exactly my plan, just want to make sure it fits before I buy it. In my environment I get bumped alot, and I drop and throw things pretty often, including my carry bags. Im in commercial real estate and construction. So protection is important.

My advice would be to go on to dell.com and configure an M1330. There is an accessories section for cases which should only offer cases good for the M1330 size. Take a look at those first.

I'm planning on getting a messenger type bag for mine and was looking at the STM stuff which seems a good fit:

    http://www.stmbags.com.au/smallalley

Also worth checking out Apple's site for MacBook cases/bags as the dimensions are almost the same ;)

Case Logic, end of story. The Shuttle is the best solution in my opinion because it has an extra pocket that holds my extra battery, mouse, or power adapter or odds and ends.

Do you know which size is good for the M1330 w/ the 9-cell? The size 4 is for the 6-cell I think. I emailed Tom Bihn, but they're not sure whether the 9-cell would fit in the size 4, since they don't have the dimensions w/ the 9-cell.

That's a good question, it might be tough sense it does stick out and down.

If you're in touch with Tom Bihn, you might ask them about a Sony SZ with it's large capacity extended life battery - that battery sticks down and out in a similar way as the 9-cell XPSM1330 battery, so that might give them some idea.

Will the m1330 fit in these stm small alley?

The physical dimensions of the m1330 stated in the m1330 manual in the specifications:
    15.5 x 11.3 x 1.7 inches

The dell.com specs, notebookreview.com review, egadget, and other reviews (with LED):
    12.5" x 9.4" x 0.87" - 1.33"

    STM notebook compartment dimensions:
    12.8 x 9.8 x 1.6 inches

Looks like it does fit going by the dell.com specs.

What do you guys think about the Booq Vyper XM? It was posted in another thread. I asked a Dell XPS representative how far the 9-cell sticks out, and he said about 3/4". I am thinking that this should fit VERY closely.

I found it also interesting how the size measurements are way off in the manual, especially in the length area ( 15.5" way..too much for a 13.3" ).

I also considered the stm Small Brink bag:
    http://www.stmbags.com.au/smallbrink

However, the measurements showed 13 x 9.1 x 1.1 inches and so I'm not sure if it's a fully good fit since the thickness is a bit less than the measurement for the m1330. It might be a very tight fit tho, which I'd want to avoid.

Although the stm - Small Alley seems to be a great solution tho. It measures up quite well and has enough room for a few notepads...seems pretty much perfect for student use.

I am starting to think it is a copy & paste error from another manual. The m1330 manual seems to be full of errors.

This is exactly for the XPS M1330, three items protection pack, fitted sleeve, screen protector and pouch, very handy you don't need to remove the laptop from the sleeve to use it, have a look.

Someone who recently posted a review (but not via NotebookReview*) said that the 14" version of be.ez' LArobe sleeve fits the 1330 + 9cell "like a glove".

Given the "ibook 14" sleeve measures 12.7"x10.2"x1.35" (323x259x34.2 mm) and the 1330 measures 12.52"x9.37"x1.33" (318x238x338 mm) w/o the protruding 9-cell, sounds like he's got it right.

Perhaps someone could be so kind to post the actual distance the 9-cell protrudes from the base, please? More important is that actual hight of the 1330 w/ 9-cell; I think the 1.33" is w/o the 9-cell and thus the sleeve might get a bit streched at the back (bottom)...

*He posted a link to his review but for the life of me... can't seem to find it again (sorry) [EDIT] - Found it, here it is!

I have a Booq sleeved, which is made out of the stuff bullet proof vests are made out of. As shown here

    http://rushfaster.com.au/product.php?pProductID=VYP-BLK-L

But honestly, I am using the sleeve that came with the M1330, it is excellent Quality and provides great protection. Why buy another sleeve when one comes with it.

I just saw Crumpler's "The Gimp" today & it didn't look bad...
There's six diffeent sizes and I guess the best bet would be the TG14 (315x250x34 mm). It's just going to be a little tight on the sides, given the M1330 measures 318mm...

Just keep in mind that it's too thick to toss into your backpack so I wouldn't label it as a protection sleeve, but rather a standalone job.

Seems though it's an out-dated model as the only similar bag I found on Crumpler's own website was the School Hymn, but the sizes are less interesting...

Well now that I've got mine, I have to say that the 9-cell's a bit of a pain when it comes to "sleeving" it. Heck, it doesn't even really fit properly in Dell's own sleeve!

The 9-cell extends the depth of the M1330 by a modest 15mm (0.6") which isn't a problem but the height of the M1330 is increased by 12mm (0.5") making for one thick rear-end. Instead of the std. 34mm, we're now looking at 46mm (1.8")!!!

As trivial as that may sound to you, wait 'till you try to stuff into a macbook (or similar-dimensioned) sleeve... you'll get a pretty ugly buldge (and this buldge won't even get you noticed ;))

I'm planning on using my 3 year old Timbuk2 laptop messenger bag with built in sleeve for my 1330. I measured the sleeve inside as 13" wide by 9.5" high, so it should fit like a glove. I'm not sure if this is the same size as the current timbuk2 bags tho...

Given that the LED screen on the 1330 is considered very flexy, what is the best way to protect against pressure on the lid causing the screen to get scratched by the keyboard area of the laptop?

With a past notebook I solved this issue by simply keeping a sheet of paper between the screen and keyboard whenever I stowed it, but if there is a more elegant solution I'd like to know.

I just use the one that came with the notebook.

As for the keyboard - screen scratching issue, I've not seen any examples of it on my 4 month old notebook. Although I can suppose it can be a possibility after seeing it on many notebooks.

My old generic sleeves for my ex- 630m and D630 work with the M1330 since the M1330 is almost the same physical size as both of them. The 9 cell makes it a little difficult but it will work.
