The battery indicator on my I-630m when unplug reads 96-97% even when fully charged. So when I unplug the power, battery indicator pops up and says 96%

I never noticed this on any other Dell laptop I own. When unpluged, they all read 100% when they start running on battery.

Can this be a faulty battery? Or software related?

Can anyone else with this system notice the same issue when running on battery?

I just unplugged mine and it says 100%. I have the 9-cell battery, I don't know if that makes a difference. Maybe you should let your battery completely drain then charge it up again.

Generally notebooks won't charge the battery unless it's under 90% full to save on charge cycles. So yes, a discharge and charge should get you back to 100%.
