When I close the media center after say watching a video file, the screen will flash black then show the desktop, another black screen and then to the desktop. It will run fine otherwise. Just seemed odd to me.

It also appears to be running something constantly. There will be a little hourglass next to the pointer randlomly for a few seconds for no apparent reason about once a minute. I've add/removed most of the junk that came with the computer and disabled any unwanted processes. Maybe searching for wireless networks? Thoughts?

Just wandering what's going on. Happy with my purchase so far.

    TIA.

Hey... my m140 did the same thing. Everytime I booted up Xp it would flash a black screen for less than 1 second. Everything would be fine after that.... didn't think much of it. If I were you I'd run Spybot, Ad-Aware, and maybe Microsoft Anti spyware beta. See if that speeds things up and gets rid of the hourglass.

Computer has not accessed the internet yet (I am not currently on it) so it can't possibly have spyware, or can it?

Anyone else with the black screen issues?

i have a m140 as well and it is not a virus or spyware issue. what you are experienceing is the lack of a dedicated vid card. because you are changing the resolution of the screen the gma 900 integrated vid card doesnt have the power to make the change instanly or without you knowing. ever notice how the screen flickers for like a quick second on startup, its the same deal. everything is fine. having a fast processor and lots of ram helps this but in the end the little bitty gpu is just haveing a hard time.
