l'd toss out the ram and buy a stick of 1gb from newegg to put in it.
Other then that, not bad for the price! -

Or you can get 2x512 sticks to run it in dual channel. Looks like a good deal to me.

Pretty decent price for that config.
2X512 would be better than 1GB since it would be cheaper, but I don't think the M140 is dual channel capable. -
The M140 is dual channel capable.
-
Yeah, I checked the specs after looking up the chipset, M140 uses the 915GM chipset, and does support dual channel.
I researched a few laptops when I was helping my gf choose a laptop; always thought it didn't support dual channel since they showed the E1705 etc. having dual channel in the configuration screen and not in the M140's one. -
I got the following from the outlet a couple weeks ago:
XPS M140
Centrino 1.86ghz
1gb DDR2 533 RAM
100gb 5400RPM EIDE
DVD+/-RW
Bluetooth
Intel 2915 a/b/g Wireless
14.1inch WXGA w/ TrueLife
I got it for $900 shipped. -
Looks like the both of you got pretty good deals on your notebooks. For Ontario though: I'd also recommend putting more RAM into your notebook, preferably 1-2GBs.

1 gig ram
80 gig HD

trulife screen
2200 card

Go dell outlet!
Go XPS M140
I got mine a couple of months ago. The reason it was so cheap is I used a 20% off dell outlet coupon.
Look at my sig for specs.
Hope you guys like your new machines! -
Great deal but like someone else said get new ram from newegg
