    My oldest son is college bound in the fall and I am down to these two models mainly because we get such a good discount on Dell here at work. I can get the basic configurations on either one of these for under $700:

    I would go with the E1505 the processor and RAM are better. It has a larger screen. Seems to be the best for your money. :)

    E1505 hands down!

    It has a better processor and more ram which will make it much faster.

    yeah, I would go with the E1505 also (not that I have one... oh yeah I do, but mine is acting funny, so there). Better specs, and will likely feel faster with the dual core, but if you can, upgrade the warranty.

    I think the E1405 will be more expensive, because the thinner you go, the more expensive the laptop gets (other than gaming systems, or other High End system / desktop replacements).

    While it's true that the smaller forms, particularly the 12" and under, get pricey, I doubt the drop from 15.4 to 14.1 is going to be a huge price difference. Time will tell though, I suppose.

    I saw a tentative (supposedly leaked) price list, but then again, that was before Dell's coupons... so who knows?
