I recently decided I would get the M140 over the e1505 but now I have a new dilema. I have the 2(which I know are technically the same machine) speced out almost exactly the same except for the following:
#1(M140)
Intel Pentium M 1.86Ghz
9 cell lithium ion Battery.
#2(630n)
Pentium M 2.0Ghz
6 cell battery.
(they both cost about the same not counting software)
I guess my main question is whether to go with the M140, with comes with MCE 2005 and all the XPS bonuses or to go with the 630n which would have a faster processor and a battery that didn't stick out the back. I'd also want to know what software comes on the 630n since you can't choose on the construction page.
your help will be greatly appreciated!

I also forgot to mention that the 630n would probably be a little lighter due to the smaller battery.

You could always change the battery in the M140 to the 6-cell. Really they're nearly identicle computers except one has MCE, one doesn't, one has instant on dvd access one doesn't, and finally one is available through home and the other is available through small and medium businesses on Dell's site.

The 630n has the mediadirect too I think. The problem with changing the battery on the M140 is that I don't get a cost deduction since it's a special bonus on that machine.

If I got the 2GHz processor on the M140 then it would cost more.

The main aspect also to consider is that with the 630m you pay always taxes, in all the States in USA. With the m140 you do not pay taxes in most States. That makes a certain difference.
Also, 630m doesn't come with MediaDirect, but you can actually install it if you are lucky and dell ships you the MediaDirect Installation CD.
Also, you would need Windows Media Edition 2005 software or Dell Experience Software.
Regarding the 9 cell, my personal point of view is that one person should have the 6 cell battery and then if needed one should buy the 9 cell through ebay. The 6 cell battery is very useful because it is smaller and lighter. Especially, if you have to travel you can buy a 14 inches sleeve, now with the 9 cell battery the sleeve would be too small. At this point you have to remove the battery and plug it in and out all the times.
In other words the 6 cell battery is actually quite useful for travellers and the 9 cell can be bought later if needed. My personal opinion though. -
So the 630m would have a bunch of buttons on the front that I'd never be able to use?

I read an article now and I think I know the answer to my own question. If I got the 630m then I would still be able to use mediadirect, I'd just have to boot into windows first wheras on the M140 I wouldn't. I've never gotten a laptop before so thanks for being patient with me.
