Eh, it's not Dell's problem. I love my Dell 1520, but I'd take the 1530 over it any day. These are such sweet laptops. Congrads to you, to getting the laptop magazine to show your review.

The m1530 is an awesome machine!

One thing about that laptop mag review - why would they use 3dmark03 for their GPU test?

In the actual magazine review, they also use the 3dmark06 ;)

BTW, how many of you picked up your copy? It was sprinkling so I hopped on the Metro Bus and went downtown to get my copy. (I won't drive my Corvette in the rain and my wife has the PT). Sure enjoyed reading it last night. :D

Man I'm so excited about getting mine. It's supposed to ship on 3/24 but I see others who get theirs shipped early. It's been in the build phase since yesterday so I hope they finish it and ship it soon. Thank you Jack, your enthusiasm helps to let me know I made a great choice with this one and I like the review.

Hmm I was on the fence about purchasing one of these but I heard some horror stories about the following issues. Can someone please chime in on these issues:

    1) Laptop mag says it has choppy webcam performance
    2) Optical Drive makes a loud grinding sound
    3) Hard Drive is not dampened therefore amplifying the Hard Drive noise
    4) The ones shipping now with the Samsung screens is has horrible contrast, viewing angles and tons of light leakage.

If I get enough positive feedback on this issues I may consider this thing. Thanks!

Haven't used webcam yet so can't comment. However, I've heard/read similar feedback from other users.

There is a grinding noise when loading or ejecting the disc. During normal operation it's fine. However the discs come out unscathed despite the unsettling noise.

There is hardly any HDD noise from my notebook. Overall the M1530 is quite quiet, imo.

Reports vary and I believe the majority of Samsung issues are from older issues (pre-March) of the M1530. My notebook with Sammy screen is absolutely fine. You have a 21 day return period if unsatisfied anyway.

Personally I think the M1330/M1530 series of notebooks are some of the best Dell has produced in a long, long time. Good luck in your decision!

Which review did you read? Magazines or mine? In my review (in my sig) I show exactly what you would be getting from unopened box to using it.

You can see my scores toward the bottom of my review:
    http://corvettec3.com/dellXPSm1530review.htm

It was higher than what was posted in the magazine too. They were only using 2MB memory there and I don't know WHY they did that?
