I currently have an M1530, but I want to get something cheaper as I'm unemployed and need some money to live for right now. I have a buyer for my laptop currently and have found a few good deals on the Studio 17. I like the bigger screen. I'm a big guy and weight is not a concern. I don't care for portability, all I care about is performance and build. I want something that's going to push a couple games, run all of my apps, and not have any trouble doing it. I have the LED screen on my XPS and love it and would probably do the same for my Studio if I were to get one. Is it worth the "downgrade" so to speak?

It depends, what is your budget?

I am looking at the refurbs since there is a 20% off coupon out there. I am wanting to stay under $700 after the coupon is all said and done. I found quite a few with the same specs as my XPS in that price range. Really my only concern is, how is this video card compared to the 8600m GT and how does the screen compare in terms of quality?

It's going to be ~$100 gain after it's all said and done. There are the few things that I do like about the Studio that's pushing me that way. IE: The larger screen, backlit keyboard, and possibly? a better video card

The one I am looking at also has a slightly better processor. I am looking at the 2.16 ghz model as I have the 1.83 ghz model on my XPS
