Anyone else notice the crap quaulity of the LCD on the M170? The light leakage along the bottom of the LCD when the screen is balck is terrible!!
It look like a sunrise on a clear horizon.. The whole bottom has white light glowing up.

I called DELL Tech support and, of course had to go through all the testing.. But they are sending a tech to change the LCD...

Anyway to find out what kind of LCD is currently in the machine?

i'm pretty sure Dell knows that there LCD's suck and they just don't care, because their service is so top notch. . . . . . . . .

there is a reason they can offer those rediculous coupons

Dell uses coupons because they over price everything, and some people dont use the coupons, and dell makes a huge profit from that. That in my eyes, is great marketing/selling.
Yeah, who knows on the M170 Screens...

Light leakage is normal for all lcd laptop screens, the good news is the more light leakage you have, the brigther overall screen you have too, the other good news is that this light leakage will dissipate over the course of using the laptop for about four weeks. Mine was just as bad as you describe, now its not a problem at all, very minimal.
