No this, isn't entirely about the sparkles. I've actually noticed that such threads have completely disappeared in the past 1-2 months. Then I stumbled across a fairly recent thread over at NBF. A disgruntled user called up Dell and said "No" to an LG screen. The technicians reply was that Dell was no longer using the LG and Samsung screens but rather Sony and Phillips screens. Could this be why all the sparkle issues have gone away? Is this the same spectacular screen that's used in the A series?

If they are using Sony screens, then sony would apparently use their screens in their laptops lol, but yes, I guess that would be why. Unless the rep lied haha. But I'm sure he didn't. I am getting an M170, and I'm glad I came across this thread, THANKS for posting it! NOW IM VERY EXCITED!!!!!!!! haha

Indeed. If it's really a Sony screen, I no longer see any reason NOT to buy this laptop.

I didnt think Sony manufactured their own lcd screens! However, Sony laptops definitely have the best screens imo.

I would sure hope they did. It would make no sense if Sony didn't given that they sell LCD monitors themselves, TV's and a whole bunch of other products of that nature. (unless those too are rebranded, something I doubt!)
