    Im new on this forum but iv seen some good convos and idvices and appreciate it if you guys (and gals) can help me out.

    I have the Dell XPS m170;

    Pentium M 2.0ghz
    1gb ram (512mb x 2)
    Geforce 7800gtx 256mb
    55gb hdd (7200rpm btw)
    17 inch super glossy or whatever screen
    wifi, dvd-burner etc etc etc

    and I want to get the dell vostro 1500 with;

    Core duo t7300 2.0ghz
    2gb ram (2 x 1gb)
    geforce 8600m gt
    160gb hdd
    the best 15inch opition, etc etc etc

    now my real question is this; I want the new vostro for 2 reaons, 1. my battery on the xps is dead, and 2. I want more mobility. I figured Id leave the xps at home and have the kids have a go, and Im not a serious gamer (battlefield 2, and Medieval 2 mostly), but I want to know how well the vostro handles games.

    Probably get about the same (or higher) performance out of it as your m170, gaming wise.

    The 8600M GT has enought horsepower to handle BF2 and Medieval 2 easily.
