    Hey guys,

I like this little thing but I have setup all the dell drivers properly and I still occasionnaly get blue screens when transfering files or doing little dumb pc tasks.

Anyone else have random blue screens?

    Thanks,
    Dave

You could download that Dell diagnostics CD and run it for a while to see if you have any hardware problems. (Or use the built-in ones if you have that, but the CD seems much more thorough.)

It’s a shot in the dark, but you might have some bad RAM (The BSOD during file transfers made me think about this possibility).

You might want to try running Prime 95 (Torture Test/Blend) for at least an hour or so to rule out RAM and processor issues.

Memtest86 is good for checking for RAM specific issues. You’ll have to burn an ISO to run it if you don’t have a floppy drive or a bootable flash drive.

    Or, software incompatibility issues.
ZoneAlarm Pro dealt my SZ at least two dozen blue screens before I figured out it was the culprit.

External devices (USB, ExpressCard, etc) have a tendency to cause blue screens when they are hot-swapped, or sometimes even randomly. This is something to take into consideration.
