I was just configuring the XPS m1330 (on www.dell.be) and I find the price difference incredible. An upgrade to the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB Cache) costs 968EUR, thats $1306 given the current exchange rate, whereas in the States this same upgrade is only $275. That is more than $1000 on the processor alone !! Surely this can't be right?

Also things like the biometric fingerprint reader which seem to come standard in the US come for $130 extra here (Belgium, and I suppose in other parts of Europe too)

I'm hoping this is a mistake.

There may be a slight difference in the starting price but when I configure the same laptop with exactly the same specs on both sites the difference still amounts to +/- $1000, and most of this is clearly due to the processor...

How much is a T7300? Because there is absolutely no point in getting a T7500 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB Cache) over a T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB Cache).

A T7300 is $ 520 extra (€ 386,75). Still a difference which is way too large in comparison to the few extra $ you pay for a processor upgrade in the States...

they screw up 2 things, the price of the ssd which is at 118,000 and the price of the bluetooth module which is at also 118,000.
I wonder why does the fingerprint reader cost $25 in us but in europe it ll cost u 95euros (100+usd)

LOL, ^ thats clearly a little error, but seriously though, jokes apart...I hope Dell does something about this as I think this huge difference will deter Europeans to go for this Dell (certainly will be the case here).

Actually, minus the 118,000. The europe machine (at least in germany) is about 100euros cheaper than in the US and A. (I think)

I think Dell, Sweden holds the record so far. Bluetooth option = 99 999SEK = approx 14,300 dollars. For twenty dollars less you can get the SSD. My config ended up at about 215 000SEK or approx 30 000$. Such a bargain! :)

Back on topic quickly, this price differential is mad. The processor upgrades on the Inspiron 1520 are much less for the same upgrade (and not too dissimilar to the US prices). Not sure why Dell Euro is determined not to let anyone upgrade thier processor on the M1330...

Just looking into this more, in the US the processor upgrades cost the same whether it is a standard inspiron or an XPS. In Europe, the XPS ones are over twice as expensive... error or rip off?

Rip off. In the UK the same spec I'm looking at is £300 ($600) more expensive than in the US. Plus there's no T7300 option.

    The 1520 upgrade from T5450 to T7500 is £176. The m1330 upgrade from T5450 to T7500 is £340.

I was about to order one of these, but this combined with a 2 month wait is out of the question. A nearly equivalent HP dv2500 is £600 ($1200) cheaper !!!!

Just bumping this thread up again as I think this price difference is not only ridiculous but outright scandalous

The fingerprint reader is only € 48,40 at the Belgium site right now.
