I'm torn between thin and light and gaming ability.

I tried bioshock on my m1210 (7400) and found it to be a bit choppy.

Is the m1330 (8400M) much better?

Or should I go for the v1500 with and 8600GT?

Go with your gut. I'm happy I picked up the 8600gt, a lot of the newer games are playing really nicely. The m1330 is a beauty, great form factor, pretty... easy to carry around. I carry my laptop from my desk to my bag, and onto another desk. If I was constantly walking around laptop in hand I would have grabbed the m1330.

The m1330 wins hands down! It's one of the best overall laptops I've seen in a long time!

    I like my vostro...

haha it plays games amazingly and is not too big for me. My friend has a 1330 and I like it alot too, but it has the 8400 and not the 8600 so he cant play newer games on it with good settings even though he has a high res screen. I dno, if you are carrying it alot, the m1330 is pro. If you arent, I reccomend the vostro from my experiences with the two. Also, the vostro can come with xp as well as with little/no bloatware.

I would say the M1330. This is one of those notebooks that you really come to love, and there aren't many like that. The Vostro looks like a nice computer, but you can't beat the M1330 for looks, form, and function. The M1330 is what a laptop should have been all along.

If you want to play games, go with the Vostro. If you want something easier to carry around and looks better, go with the xps.

I haven't had the chance to try any newer games on my vostro 1500 yet, but UT2004 runs flawlessly with every setting maxed out.

A Geforce 8600GT is a nice minimum for a modern gaming system. An Inspiron 1520/1720 is going to have over double the gaming performance as an XPS 1330, and probably cost less. So if gaming is a consideration, there's no contest.

How does the m1330 with 8400 compare to the 1210 with 7400?
