I just bought the XPS m170 this weekend and got the 2.0 processor. Can I upgrade this in the future? If yes how hard is it?
Thx!

You can upgrade, but only to a Pentium M of higher speed. You will have to disassemble the laptop and take off the heatsink and clean it and replace the paste. That is about it.
It is harder than it sounds.
Hope this helps. -

Thank's for the info. Since it will void my warranty I would wait for two years. I may never actually do the upgrade but it is nice to know it is an option.
Thanks again! -
I am not sure, but I don't think upgrading your processor voids your warranty. And it really is a fairly simple process, I think it's good to take your laptop apart anyway. It gives you a better understanding of how things are set up, and lets you know what you need to do if you ever wanna fix anything.
Personnally, I think one of the best upgrades a person can do to the XPS is a pinmod on their processor. You can actually make money off of it, and it is pretty easy to come out with a 2.26 or a 2.4 CPU. All up to you though, just know you can change it at any time, and I don't think it voids your warranty -
I think it does void warranty.
