From the Dell 2x512 to CORSAIR 2x1gig

    Both are CAS 5 667.

Will there be a noticable difference in Vista Business? I sometimes get a little lagging with say iTunes and Firefox running at the same time.

Is ram the culprit? Taskmanager says I am normally at 73%.

Thanks all, hope that makes sense.

Vista is supposed to perform at its best with 2gigs of ram depending on which version of Vista. An upgrade to 2 gigs of ram may be a worth while investment if you are having trouble with mutli tasking in vista.

However I first have to ask if you are using your XPS stock out of the box with the bloatware that comes with it, or if you have tried reformating or atleast cleaning your Vista install up.

Oh, complete format, unecessary services off, the whole nine.

I actually did a clean install of Vista Business after clearing off XPMCE.

I never see it go over 73% or such though. But could the ram being reserved for the 7400go be the other 27% that's never used when I am looking at the task manager? Mine does say it reserves 274megs (or close to that, machine is at home) for the card...

    Oh, my bad! xD

I think it would probably be worth your while to upgrade the memory. Particularly.

Any idea on the shared mem. being 255 (on the system now) instead of 192? And could that be eating a good portion of my ram pretty consistently with Aero/mem. set aside at all times?

i think that vista takes up 64 mb of ram automatically for all services etc. I doubt that you'd be able to adjust that.

I didn't mean services, I meant the ram allocated to the video card. My system claims it has 255 set aside.

Also, is $130.99 good for a 2gig kit from CORSAIR? 2x1gig sticks.

PS- If anyone has any opinions on price/brand in the next 2 hours, that would be great as I intend to purchase them today. THanks!

Well, I guess it's a comporable price. I can get the same deal from Crucial. Just on one I pay tax, not shipping, and the other I pay shipping and no tax.

    Also, CORSAIR = 3day shipping
    Crucial = 5-7day shipping

Is Crucial ram better / worth the wait?
