I’ve received my computer for several weeks now, and during this time, I noticed that the start-up time rather long - about 1:05 from pressing the power button. Is this normal, and if not, what can I do about it? (I already disabled most of the startup items and services).

    Thanks

Although probably not the answer you're looking for, I'd recommend having a look in your bios at the boot sequence. If it is set to search your harddrive last for the bootloader, it could add a couple of seconds.

Other than that, I'd suggest disabling all services and programs to load, and enabling them one at a time - attempting to find which service or program is causing the problem.

Looks like you're using Zonelabs software? I got rid of the ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite because it took forever to load and shut down.
    That might be the culprit.

neosenate: thanks, the bios tip helped a bit. Now, my startup time is ~1:00

thetick97: I using Zone Alarm on my older laptop (a 3.0 ghz p4) and it doesn’t seem to slow it down. In fact, it actually starts faster than the XPS 1210.

Iceman0124: Yes, I already did a clean re-install of Windows

I used to use the full Zonelabs suite on my old laptop, and I've use it on my Desktop before. Zone Alarm is a bit of a hog and caused my old laptop to hang on start up and shutdown. It's almost as bad as norton. I agree that could very well be the culprit. I also noticed Trillion is still checked to load on startup.

I use ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite. And I dont notice any slowdown from my system. 50 seconds to boot, from when I press the power button to load up everything else.

Zone alarm is a resource hog for sure.

You need two things running to protect your PC, from my view, and both are freeware........
    Antivir
    and
Tea Timer, which comes bundled with Spybot.

No Firewalls, No Windows security and I have never been let down. Ever!

To help remove all unwanted start up apps try this.
