I got a quote on an XPS 1530. (T8300...2.4GHz) 4GB. 4 year warranty etc.
However, the computer person at work told me that Vista is a nightmare. I asked the salesperson if I could have XP installed on this computer and was told no.
I was trying to configure an Inspiron 1520 to have the same components. And I can pretty much. Will I regret getting it with XP?
Right now I have an Inspiron 5150 which is still chugging along.
What I'm looking for is a lighter laptop with more speed. I use my computer for writing, some games, email, photos etc.
I'm very comfortable with Windows XP and have been reading about people with Vista reformatting their computers before they even use them. Something I have NO clue how to do.
I need some of you who know more than I do to give me some advice about what to order and how to cope with Vista if I do go with the XPS.
Thanks

I had a few issues with Vista at first. I don't even remember what they were specifically. But it took about an hour of googling the problem and applying the proper fixes. After that, it was smooth sailing. Vista is definitely worth having over XP, quite frankly Vista is just better. You may not even have problems because SP1 was recently released. Also, I would never PAY extra to have XP.

If in the beginning, I have trouble with Vista, will Dell help me?
Also, I had just been googling vista vs. xp and I read that xp is much faster than vista. Is that something you've experienced?
Lastly, if I HATE Vista, can I have XP installed on my new computer? -
The Vista Sucks mantra is a phenomenon of the Internet. It's better than XP was at launch, by a mile. There just weren't 10,000 shrieking bloggers around when XP launched.
Vista is fine. Don't worry about it. -
Vista works fine for me,
especially on XPS M1530
Vista is fine, but XP is less problem than vista -
Vista SP1 > XP
It used to be the other way around, people who still slam Vista are basing it off Mac commercials and not facts. -
XPS1530 or Inspiron1520?
