Hey I installed xp following the steps from one of the other theads and after it finished formatting and copying files and it rebooted to go into the windows install it just comes up with a maybe .5 second message saying somthing like this:

    Invalid boot.ini file
    Booting from c:\Windows\
    NTDETECT failed

and then it restarts again and does it again and loops like this. does anyone know what this could be or how to fix it? Thanks

Did you check to change the SATA modes? Windows XP does not natively support AHCI, which is the default SATA mode. You must select the other mode (I think its called Compatibility... I do not have mine on at the moment to check). If you install it in Compatability and then switch to AHCI without making the proper modifications your Windows XP will not boot.

Although I dont think that is your issue, as usually when that happens Windows XP usually blue screens and restarts on its own.
