I think this has been asked before, but with just the order number, can I find the service tag and then find out the components they are sending?
    thanks

Yes, if you log onto the Dell Support website, you can go to the "My Systems" link. There should be another link for "Find a System or Peripheral" where you can add systems by order number.

Yes and no... I dont ever recall being able to find a component (ie motherboard) on the 'My Systems' page before it arrived, which is what I think your asking.

If its a new system, you can call a day or so before shipment and get the service tag. Go to Dell.com and look up the warranty where it will ask you to input the service tag. There will be a tab for original configuration. This configuration is the original scanned configuration from each part as it was installed.

Sorry, what I meant was that adding the computer to 'My Systems' gives you the service tag. At least, that's what I did a couple of days ago.
