I just opened up it up and have yet to power it on. Man, it's pretty looking. Anybody care for some comparison shots of it side by side with a 1520?

    wait wait wait

you need to post a zillion complaints about things like the the corners of the computer are too round/not round enough for your liking.

afterwards, you should threaten to "file a class action suit" against Dell (you may want to throw Gates' name in there for good measure).

then, you need to start 4 different threads in the forum complaining about customer service and how Dell should just give you like 3 free computers for your trouble or maybe just a couple grand in cold hard cash.

Alright, haven't gotten pictures of the 1520 and 1530 side by side, that will have to wait till I get home when I can fire up the digicam. I've formatted the drive and reinstalled Vista and just now getting WoW patched up.

The screen is pretty good looking, but I'm not too particular - it looks clear and bright. I found out I have a Samsung screen in it (my 1520 also has a Samsung, which I've been happy with). There doesn't happen to be any light bleed (or at least any severe light bleed), but I'll test it at home in the dark tonight, I'm in my office and all the flourescent lighting above isn't a good test to judge by. The HDD is pretty quiet, but the optical drive is pretty noisy. Overall, I'm real happy with it - knock on wood.

Haha, problem with the system, hate it, smells bad... that's what Dell's 21 day return policy is for ... I'll definitely be using it if it starts to smell like funk, LOL. I am not as pessimistic about the systems I buy not working ... My clunky old HP 1525 laptop has lasted me 5-6 years (still running strong) when I didn't expect it to last me more than 2-3 years... some people (who should not own laptops) think laptops are built for them to bounce around like a basketball without running into trouble.

To be fair, the first time I noticed all the noise about Dell screen problems was back when they first came out with a glossy screen. I can't believe this is still going on. But anyway, I ordered one, a 9300, I think, and I had the high end Sony 17" at the same time. Putting the 2 next to each other, the Sony was much better. There were sort of sparkles all over the Dell screen. However, when I should the Dell to other people and just asked them what they thought, with out leading them in any direction, everyone was like "man, that's awesome, what a notebook". And even when I tried to point out what I and other people on the forums were seeing, the were like "yeah, I guess I see it, I don't know, it looks pretty good to me."
